Registrations:

East St. Paul had a successful year with 132 players registering from ages 5 to 18, as increase form 114 in 2024. The East St. Paul teams included 3 Rally Cap, 5 Grand Slam, 1 U11A, 2 U13A and one each for U15A and U18A. The complex also hosted high performance teams at the AA level, U11AA, U13AA, with 12 East St. Paul players on those teams. A RRV Challenger baseball team was also based out of East St. Paul.

The East St. Paul community hosted the league championships for the U11A and U13 A levels along with the Provincial Zone 1 championships for U13A and U15A teams.

East St. Paul community members also worked as umpires for the Red River Valley Baseball league. A total of 8 youths worked as umpires for the regular season and championship games.

Equipment Report:

All teams were outfitted with jerseys, catcher’s gear, bases and baseballs. All jerseys and equipment were returned at the end of the year. A new set of drop in bases was purchased with the RM installing 70’ drop in posts on field 2. A new catchers’ helmet and chest protector was purchased. Approximately 12 new jerseys were purchased to replace worn and lost jerseys. These were needed to outfit the second u13 team. The RM also upgraded the pitching mound on filed #1 so that U13 and U15 distances can be accommodated.

Communication:

Communication with the RM staff has been excellent. They have been very helpful with getting playing fields ready, answering coach, parent and director questions and opening/closing the batting cage. Thank you to Nancy for setting up a google doc to allow for coaches to schedule practice times around games and to book the batting cage. The batting cage was well used on weeknights and weekends.

Challenger Baseball:

I would like to thank the RM of East St. Paul for donating field time for Challenger baseball. The season was a huge success with RRV having one of the largest teams with 12 players. Four games were hosted on field#4 on Saturday mornings.

Successes:

Congratulations to East St. Paul players and coaches that were part of championship teams, U11A Zone 1 'A' Provincial Champions and the U18AA Elmwood Giants as repeat city champions with 6 East St. Paul players.

At the RRV Awards banquet held in October, grassroots coach of the year was awarded to Bart Neal and volunteer of the year was awarded to Andrew Dolhy.

Fall Ball Program

A fall ball program was held at the complex on weekends from September to October for u9-u13 age groups. Twenty-eight players registered with four older players volunteering to help teach skills.

Thank you to all the players, parents, players, coaches, managers, score keepers, pitch count counters umpires and volunteers that made this season so successful

HOCKEY:

The ESPCC had 426 registered players for the 2024-2025 season.  This is up from 391 registered players from the previous year.

The ESPCC had 8 House League teams.  5 - u7 and 4 - u9.  These teams are looked after by the ESPCC Hockey Director and General Manager.  The House League teams consisted of 142 players up from the 98 players the previous year.  The remaining 284 players from u9A1 are placed on teams within REMHA.  I still work with all of the teams with respect to scheduling practices and outdoor ice.

This year the General Manager was asked to a Demonstration Day for all the u9 teams.  This Demonstration Day was a one-day event that taught coaches and parents how to set up and take down the half boards.  Once the demonstration of the setup and take down takes place players have a practice or scrimmage game with the opposing team.  Treats are handed out to the players, paid by REMHA.

The 2024-2025 season saw 28 teams use the half boards.

The General Manager creates a schedule for which team is in charge of setting and take down of the half boards for the regular season once the game schedules are submitted.  The purpose of the schedule is to give teams time to plan for parents to help with the off-ice set and take down of the boards.

I would like to thank all the volunteer coaches and managers that I worked with all through the season.  A special thank you goes out to Rob for filling in as the position of Hockey Director was vacant at the same time he was the ESPCC Vice President.  I would also like to thank Tyler Lancaster who was voted into the Hockey Director position at the AGM.  Tyler has since resigned, and Kyle Ouellette stepped into the Hockey Director position in October 2025.

Tournament of Aces

The 2025 Annual Tournament of Aces was held in March.  The tournament had 43 teams with 680 players and coaches take part in the 4 different divisions.  With 15 teams on a waitlist.

The tournament had its annual Alumni game, Prime Rib dinner, Family Fun night, kids Bingo night, Silent Auction and new this year a shoot-out for the chance to win a car.

I would like to thank all of the sponsors and their generation donations.  I would also like to thank the 2025 TOA Committee for all their hard work and dedication while working alongside them, as well as all the parent volunteers.

The 2025 season was a dynamic and successful year for lacrosse at East St. Paul Community Centre. With programs spanning multiple age groups and formats, the club continued to grow in participation, visibility, and community engagement.

Team Formations & Participation

This year, lacrosse teams were active across ?ve age divisions. East St. Paul proudly formed two (2) house league teams at the U7U9 level, with 16% of players being female, re?ecting our commitment to inclusive sport development.

  • 2 U11 Teams
  • 2 U13 Teams
  • 2 U15 Teams
  • 1 U17 Team

Player demographics showed a healthy regional balance:

  • ~50% from within city limits
  • ~50% rural with majority of players from East St. Paul and Spring?eld

Tournaments & Events

East St. Paul was a hub for competitive and developmental lacrosse events this year:

RINGETTE:

River East Ringette Association supports the sport of ringette throughout the River East area, this includes Valley Gardens, East and North Kildonan and East St Paul.

This past year we hosted 77 players ranging through R4U to U19 programming.

For the 2024/25 season RERA hosted teams in R4U, U10A3, U12B, U14A.

Our U14A team won bronze in the Winnipeg Ringette League and Gold at provincials!

East St Paul supports us in ensuring we can provide adequate equipment to our teams.

We hosted a Come Try Ringette event in September 2024 and most recently in 2025 at East St Paul arena. Both events were well attended with over 25 participants. These events help to grow the sport and provide volunteer opportunities for our youth to help teach the up-and-coming players who have chosen ringette as their sport of choice.

SOCCER:

Soccer Report AGM 2025

Hi everyone, we had approximately 271 mini soccer players this year (U4-U8) … We had 8 U4/U5 coed teams (90 players), 6 U6 coed teams (79 players), 5 U7/8 girls teams (54 players) and 4 U7/8 boys teams (48 players). We merged with West St Paul this year to form a larger league for the U78’s, not because of a lack of players but due to a shortage in coaches. For example, we had 6 U6 teams of 14 players. Ideally the roster sizes for this age group should be around 8-10. So, we’re a little stretched thin volunteer wise... I have a couple ideas going forward that will help attract volunteers though.

One thing I’d like to do is offer head coaches free registration for their children. The number of hours that goes into running this program by volunteers is enormous and the program wouldn’t survive without them. If we don’t change something we’re going to be pushed out by private organizations. Since the program runs twice a week, I am also looking at reducing the session time from 1 hour to 45 minutes to make it more manageable for coaches.

The Jamboree was held on June 14th and was a success.  Smokin’ Bobs was there to provide lunches for the teams as well as for families attending. From what I heard this set up went smoothly and the canteen wasn’t overrun like the previous year. Our face painters were kept busy for the entire 4 hours. We will look at expanding on that next year. We had to reduce the # of bouncers last minute due to lack of volunteers, but the extra bouncer wasn’t missed.  A special thanks to Nancy for covering for me last minute as I was down with the stomach flu.

As for our U9-U18 rec teams: We hosted a total of 7 teams. 2 U9 Girls teams, 1 U9 Boys team, 2 U10 boys teams, 1 U11 girls team, and 1 U12 girls team.

Thank you,

SOFTBALL:

Year-End Softball Report - AGM 2025

Season Overview

The 2025 softball season was another successful year. NESA had 16 teams across 6 different age groups.  There were 4 Learn to Play Teams, 3 U9, 3 U11, 2 U13, 2U15 and 2 U17 Teams. In total there were 43 players registered from the East St. Paul catchment.  This is down from 54 during the 2024 season, but up over the Covid seasons.

East St. Paul had 11 players registered in the Learn to Play program, 6 in the U11 division, 12 for U13, 8 players at U15, and 5 in U17. We had 1 East St. Paul player registered for U19, but NESA was unable to field a team at this age group, and the player was released to play elsewhere.

We had our U13 White Team and U15 Orange Team play out of the East St. Paul diamonds on Raleigh as their home fields.

Highlights & Achievements

  • AA Team: This year NESA fielded a U17 AA team, there was one player from East St. Paul on this team.
  • Championships: Our U13 Navy team won gold at the CRSL Championship weekend and our U17 teams finished 1st and 2nd in the CRSL Championship weekend. There were a number of East St. Paul members on all three of these teams. Our U15 fielded a team to compete in the Provincials in Winkler in July and had a fun weekend with some close games.
  • Community Involvement: NESA hosted a softball float in the Transcona Hi-Neighbor Parade this spring.  Due to conflicts with the CRSL championship weekends and the East St. Paul Days, we could not put a float into the parade this year, but we are hoping that we will be able to in the future.

NESA Information and Going Concerns

  • We had a number of parents step up and coach again this season and are grateful for their guidance in making it a fun year for all of the players.
  • NESA is currently looking for a number of new board members to join us for next season; we need people that would like to help run our LTP program so that we can keep growing the sport. NESA is also looking for someone that would want to take on organizing tournaments, equipment or Treasurer.  If you know anyone that might be interested, please let me know.
  • NESA AGM was held on October 5th, 2025.
  • Fall Clinics are being hosted by Bonivital, with Winter Clinics being hosted by NESA.

Challenges & Lessons Learned

  • Our main challenge will be finding volunteers that can help run NESA so that we can continue to develop our players in their skill and love for the game.

Looking Ahead to Next Season

  • We are hoping to field AA teams in the U13 and U15 age groups next season
  • NESA Teams will compete in the CRSL Championship Weekends for their age groups and will have the option to participate in Provincials if they would like.
  • NESA is looking for instructors to help teach at our Winter Clinics

Overall, the 2025 Softball season went very well, and we are looking forward to a successful 2026 season.
